• LIVE, LAUGH & ALWAYS PHOTOGRAPH.

I love meeting couples who have inquired about photographing their wedding.  In general, I think it’s super important to meet up with your photographer before you book them.  There is a HUGE amount of trust being placed in them on one of the most important days of your life.  With that in mind, I’ve made it a part of my business to take my couples out for drinks and appetizers as we start to discuss and plan for their wedding day.  Meeting them beforehand allows me to learn about the couple and what makes them tick.  It’s a great way to build a connection and learn how I can make them feel special from that first meeting all the way to presenting them with their finished photographs.

This brings me to Liz and Jason.  One of my goals is to shoot more Cape Cod weddings/become a preferred photographer for Cape Cod weddings, so when I get an inquiry for a wedding on the cape I can’t help but become excited!  I knew Jason from high school but had never met Liz, and was excited to see Jason again as I knew he’d be a fun and caring fiancé.  I had a good feeling about working with them from the word go, and they were incredibly gracious the night we met up.  I was unfortunately tied up in that famous Boston traffic and it was also the Patriots home opener, but I eventually made it and we had a great time.

For their engagement shoot we met up down in Falmouth, MA.  It was a humid Sunday morning in September, and we started off in Falmouth Harbor.  One of the keys I always focus on for engagement shoots is helping the couple become comfortable in front of the camera, because it can be intimidating the first time.  I know I’m still shy when the lens is pointed at me!  In talking with Liz and Jason that morning I told them it’s kind of like a first date, and it went really well.  Once we’d gotten through the “warm up” we met up with their dog Will B and then headed to their favorite secret spot, The Knob at Quisett Harbor.  This area has a lot of meaning to them as it was where Jason had proposed.  I love being able to incorporate special places and moments into my shoots where I can, it just enhances the experience and makes that already special place even more meaningful.

I had a blast walking around the beach with them, and tried something new to challenge myself.  I like to push myself past my comfort zone, so for this shoot I went out into the water to get a different angle.  This beautiful couple was up for it and we were able to create some incredible shots!  It was a wonderful day getting to know them and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this coming August.  It will be a really fun day catching up with some old high school friends!

Liz and Jason, I hope you enjoy these pictures as well as the special times together being engaged.  It’s the best feeling in the world!

Who doesn’t love Apple Picking?  Tougas Family Farm has been the ultimate apple picking spot for my family.  We try to make it a family affair every year to go together.  Or multiple times during the fall season.

We had to search for a ladder to take a family picture all together.  We took one all together about 3 years ago.  It was long overdue.  I don’t like to lug my tripod around everywhere because it calls for attention.  Plus it’s fun to figure out a place to put the camera to get the shot I’m imaging.  Makes it a challenge and an adventure.  You know me, I love ADVENTURES!

Enjoy a few of my favorites!  Please check out their website Tougas Family Farm

There is something so special about a maternity shoot!  Watching the couple connect while they are waiting for their baby to arrive is amazing.  I love these sessions because they are so intimate and sweet, just like the babies that will arrive!  I mean, who doesn’t like holding newborns and that new baby smell?
I have known Renee and Brandon since they were high school sweethearts, and I happened to see them at Dairy Queen in town.  Mommy to be and baby were craving ice cream, and it is always nice to bump into them.  As we were catching up they mentioned that they’d be interested in a maternity session, and I was honored that they had asked.
When the time for the shoot came, we met up at my favorite (aka secret!) spot in Southborough, MA.  It’s a wide open field right next to a highway, but you wouldn’t know there was a highway there from the angles it offers.  Renee was glowing that day, and we were fortunate enough to pick a day where the wildflowers were in full bloom!
Renee and Brandon knew they were going to be having a boy, and Bennett Bond was born just a few weeks ago.  I could not be happier for all three of them, and have had the pleasure of meeting baby Bennett as well.  Congratulations to you guys and please enjoy some of my favorites from this shoot!

One of the best things about being a photographer is being a part of a group in your local area.  The Boston Speakeasy group is one of the best fits for me.  We are able to post if we have questions or need any help finding second shooters.  This year alone I will have second shot eleven weddings with nine different wedding photographers.  It’s a fun group which leads me too….

A fellow group member posted that she wanted a shoot for her third wedding anniversary and would like to exchange photography services.  How fun!  Stephanie had reached out in the group to see who was available.  I was available AND the best part is we live in the same area so we were close by.  I met Stephanie and Nate at a secret location in Dover, MA.  It was a BEAUTIFUL location; a nice, wide open field with wild flowers blooming.

Stephanie and Nate your love is contagious and I had so much fun photographing you two.  It was so easy to pose you and let you guys be you.  Laughing, joking and just being together are the best part about these anniversary shoots.  I would encourage anyone reading this post to schedule one with a professional photographer.  It’s a great reminder to how you fell in love with each other.  I always hope to laugh and smile at three years of marriage like you guys.  Enjoy some of my favorite images from your third anniversary shoot.
